infraredtime1Jack Anthony has captured all kinds of Dahlonega scenery in all kinds of light. Including the invisible kind.
“When I bought a new camera I had the old one modified by a company that specializes in converting cameras for infrared imaging,” said the local photographer. “…They take out the infrared blocking filter and put in a visible light blocking filter. After that any photo you make is just with infrared light that is not visible to the eye.”
1468562_10200882964025583_2001070937_nJack soon found that his altered lens put a new twist on his old stomping grounds.
“All living vegetation reflects infrared light very well so it is usually the brightest part of the image. Sky and water are usually dark,” he said.
As a result, his recent infrared-only essay puts a surreal twist on the usual Dahlonega sights.
“In a way you have to think differently [with infrared] in that too much vegetation makes the image too white,” he said. “Otherwise it is still just composition.1452520_10200911273853311_466824567_n
