Dahlonega resident and marathon runner Chris Lancaster knows a thing or two about how to stay healthy.
The visually impaired runner is taking that knowledge and sharing it with the world with the start of his own health blog at goofy fit.com.
Lancaster was born with a rare genetic eye disorder called retinitis pigmentosa, a degeneration of the retina which results in decreased night vision, a gradual loss of peripheral vision and, in Lancaster’s case, a loss of central vision. The degeneration progresses over time leading to blindness.
But, Lancaster’s disorder has not stopped him from achieving great things in the running world. The avid runner qualified and took part in this year’s Boston Marathon, has competed in three triathlons and just recently competed in his first Ironman event.
Now Lancaster is sharing his tips on nutrition, health and exercise through his blog goofy fit.com. Being a certified personal trainer and a certified food nutrition specialist, make the tips given by Lancaster through his blog credibility.
The blog gives readers a chance to improve their lifestyles to become more healthy while relating some of Lancaster’s inspirational achievements through his own words.
“My blog is a way for me to share my love of fitness and nutrition to others, as well as a way for me to share the experiences of a visually impaired person in a triathlon,” said Lancaster. “I have found that people simply don’t know what is good for them and how certain foods affect them. I hope that the blog helps others to understand fitness and nutrition a little better and that the information and my story are able to inspire them in their fitness and nutrition journey.”
